I’ve wanted to quit more times than I can count.
Back in corporate banking and IT, there were mornings I’d sit in the parking lot, hands on the steering wheel, and think, “If I have to walk into another meeting about the same nonsense, I might just keep driving.”
Later, as a business owner, the thought of quitting came up again, loud and clear.
In real estate, when a deal falls apart at the last minute after months of work, I regularly want to throw in the towel. When my husband and I invest in flips and probate properties, there are days the numbers don’t line up and the stress feels heavier than the reward.
And yes, even in my coaching and digital businesses, there are nights I shut the laptop thinking, “Maybe this isn’t worth it.”
The urge to quit is normal. In fact, it’s practically guaranteed if you’re doing anything that stretches you.
But it does not mean that you have to act on that nagging feeling.
3 Lessons From the “I Want to Quit” Moments
Feelings aren’t facts.
If I had followed my feelings, I would have quit half my life by now. Feelings are like weather: sunny one day, stormy the next. Discipline is what keeps you showing up, even when you’d rather not.
Effort compounds.
In real estate, you don’t see results the day you buy the property. You wait. You manage. You sweat. Then one day the check clears, and you realize the grind was worth it. Business works the same way. Too many people give up right before the payoff.
You don’t have to do it all yourself.
I’ve learned that most people don’t quit because they’re incapable. They quit because they’re buried under the grind: posting every day, chasing leads, answering the same questions over and over. That’s not weakness. That’s bad systems.
Here’s the Reframe
Wanting to quit doesn’t mean you’re failing. It means something needs to change. Whether it's your habits, your boundaries, or the way you run your business.
And that’s where systems save the day. I wish I’d had them back in my early days of business. That is also why I built them for our real estate business.
Instead of burning out, I use them now to streamline my days.
Today, with GeniusOS, the heavy lifting gets handled for you on social media. The lead chasing, the conversations, the engagement, all that runs in the background, so you can focus on strategy, relationships, and the bigger picture.
🔥 Bottom line: You’re going to want to quit. Don’t fight the feeling. EXPECT IT. Then use systems like GeniusOS that make quitting unnecessary.
